Is it very hard to change the cabin air filter in a Rogue?

I looked online, and it seems pretty straightforward. Just need to know before I buy the filter and commit to doing it.

I know that on some cars, like the Volvo S40, it can be a real pain.

No it's very easy. Check out one of the last posts on page 4 and there is a video.

I hate changing the cabin filter of my Rogue, because I need to crawl under the steering wheel (I am not a tiny guy), bend the used filter to take it out (causing dust and debris to fly around and probably fell into the filter chamber) and bend a brand new filter (I am not sure if bending a paper filter is a good idea, leaving creases...).

I recently changed my friends cabin filter for his 2008 Mazda CX-7. It was behind the glove box, in just 4 minutes it was done.

As far as I know Nissan decided to put the cabin filter there to reduce the cost of cars that have drivers on the right.

i stick a vacuum attachment in there too to suction some of the debris out. otherwise not bending the paper filter is impossible. and its not a big deal either.

It is an awkward squeeze and you'll probably get some dust in your face, and the first time you do it might take a little longer but like any job after you've done it once the next time will be a snap. There's no way to avoid bending the filter, but its very flexible and pops back to its proper form once it finds its way into position.

This is a great way to save about a hundred bucks, in particular if your order your filters in bulk online it can work out to less than $10 to change out the filter.

Excellent suggestion! I did that when I changed mine and was quite surprised at how much debris were in there. I too was worried about bending the filter, but that's actually how it's designed, and it pops back into shape just fine. Not looking forward to changing it again as I scrapped the bejesus out my knuckles. The tutorial video was very helpful. Plus I saved $$ over what the Stealership wanted to do it for me. :woot:

I did it and it was easy. I may even take it out and vacuum the hole as suggested.

BTW, a bicycle spoke makes a great tool to pull out the old filter.

OMG! Thats ... GENIUS!!! Oh, wait, haven't got an old bike rim. I know, I'll use a wire coat hanger. Opps, won't work as they're all plastic. :ohno:
