if i were to get a cold air intake or a short ram intake for my 2007 sentra 2.0s... would i have to get a chip of any sort? someone told me i had to otherwise im forcing to much air and it will wreck my engine...

Lies. The increase in air is metered just like stock, so the engine can compensate very easily.

Science aside, that whole idea is ridiculous, thousands upon thousands of car owners have aftermarket intakes without their engines being destroyed.

well considering the sentra is a Naturally Aspirated engine it technically is not pushing air in... its pulling it in and a Cold Air Intake will do nothing but help with better airflow (throttle response)

Intakes just put colder air into your engine. Cold air is more dense than the air from the engine compartment. The end result is just a richer air-fuel mix which creates a bigger expolsion and make the engine operate better since it has to do less work to draw air into the combusion chambers. Only badly designed turbo's blow up the engine.

Actually, if it changes at all, it leans out the air/fuel ratio slightly, causing more complete combustion. Richer would mean more fuel.

In reality, it just draws more air in during the time in which the intake valves are open because there is less resistance and the air is more dense.

This increase in efficiency creates more power under heavy throttle and increases fuel efficiency under light throttle.
