well, they won't even consider totaling it. Their value on the car is $29K and I'm only at $14K for damage.

One good thing though is that Abra Auto Body has a shop right here in Highlands Ranch and even if the car is fixed up in Loveland, the warranty is still good here. Yay on that little piece of news anyway.

I posted this in a separate thread, but does anyone know if the sport front bumper will fit on my car without any extra pieces? It has the radar cruise control.

Thanks!

Part number for sport bumper with ICC is 62022-JK22HI think it should fit no problem because the bumper brackets and stiffeners are the same for all models and so is the energy absorber.

Just got an email from Abra Auto Body - I have to hand it to these guys they are very responsive and seem to be on top of things. Here is the email:

Quote »Just an update I know you are concerned w/ the frame. The tech has it measured. The front frame horns(end piece) are swung over 24 millimeters, the right side is down 5 mm and the left side is down 2 mm. So it is over a little more than it visually appears but not bad.[/quote]So they are swung over 0.94488189 inches (almost a full inch ). So is that 'not bad' like they state?

That really is not that much. Made at the factory, they are allotted a certain measure that is within specs. It really is not that much. If you look closely at my pic the whole front subframe was pushed over almost a foot and at first insurance did not want to total it. I had to wait and go through the third party insurance. I would try and go that route.

Sorry about your troubles!

Off topic, were you at Mike Ward last weekend (May 30)? If not there, I swear I saw you somewhere because I remember seeing the plates with G35X.

I was at Mike Ward - they were fixing a rattle in my passenger door. Wonder if it will rattle again...

What type of G do you have coupe / sedan, what color? I'll be on the lookout for you next time. I live in Highlands Ranch but travel up and down I-25 quite a bit for meetings and see a lot of G's on there as well so it could have been there where you might have seen me. I'm usually in the left lane If you have a black coupe you might have been cruising with me down I-25 south of Denver a couple days ago...

Here, for your viewing displeasure, are some pictures that the body shop sent me today:

What exactly is hanging out of the tire (below)?

What is this piece exaclty and what the heck is it leaking (below)?

Pretty sure whatever that is, it isn't supposed to be in two pieces (below).

That is it for the pics right now.

Spacy9, my condolences on the accident. I'm glad that no one was injured.

I stumbled onto the forums and this thread as I tried to find a way to pass the time waiting for my G35x to be repaired. I was in an accident on the way to work the day after Memorial Day. I feel lucky that no one was injured and that my car could be repaired. I can completely empathize with your situation. I told the repair shop that I wanted nothing but OEM parts and that I would pay the difference if the insurance company wouldn't spring for them (Taxachusetts sucks in that way).

I hope that the repairs go well for you and that your baby is like new when you get her back.

I was there Saturday doing a warranty run through.

I have an 05 black G35X. I'm on I-25 but usually in the HOV and only as far as 20th street for work. Otherwise, I'm up here in Westminster. However, not sure I will get to see your G again...sounds like it is out for a month and I'm off to Europe next month for a year. Too bad I didn't make the connection last weekend!

Thank you. I'm sorry for your troubles as well. Are they honoring your request for OEM parts or are they fighting you?

One good thing that happened yesterday is I received a Nissan Altima, the 2.5S, to drive and it has the same push button starter as the G35. This is a very good thing because I think I've forgotten how to insert a key to start a car or take the key out of my pocket to unlock the door

Going to Europe for a year is amazing. Is it for work, school, or just because? Are you selling the G or just storing it for the year?

I spoke with the owner of the auto body shop prior to formally selecting the shop. He indicated that he strongly prefers to use, and will always recommend, OEM parts. Unfortunately, in Mass the insurance companies are only required to pay for "Quality Replacement Parts". I'll have to pay the difference.

I got to see another Infiniti that he just finished when I visited the place. The paint was immaculate and the car looked factory.

I got a Charger because I saw it was a 3.5L V6 and thought it would be good on the highway. Man is it a disappointment. Not only do I have to get a key/fob out of my pocket to open the door, I have to insert it into the dash and turn it. I also keep depressing the brake pedal when I start car. And let's not talk about the performance...

Going to get my MBA...I actually get the degree from Purdue but they have an 11-month program in Germany (which I speak) so I figured why not? I'm quite possibly the only person actually giving up a job in this economy these days but hopefully better things are in store after that degree.

I'm going to stash the car for the year. I wasn't ready to sell it and I can pay it off before I go. I figured to be able to come home to a nice car that is paid off will be a good thing.
