... or is it too late into the generation and the nuance and excitement of the Y51 has worn off?

These guys pulled it off with 2 generations... in the rain!

Japan is a small island (no offense intended, especially when compared to Cali or Texas) but man, what a turn out! Plus, it looked like almost every car there was modded externally in some way. I am jealous of Japanese Domestic Market parts - I would love to get a custom front end splitter/spoiler and rear end diffuser.

Once tried to get a few fellas in the DFW area for a small meet....it was a bust -- only me and 2 other guys showed up. We had a few beers and talked about some of our mods. The Facebook group Dallas Nissan and Infiniti Enthusiasts seems like they have pretty regular roll outs and meets. I just haven't had a chance to see how many M's actually show up.
If' it's not too far, I would consider traveling for a decent meet.

Damn, even in such a big city? At least you managed to meet a few. I usually feel like I am the only one on these forums from the St. Louis area, active that is. Either way, I think I am ready to travel for a meet - probably plan a vacation along with it.
Some NICO members usually go to Tail of the Dragon annually, maybe I'll try to catch up next year.

Maybe I need to find the Nissan Z and Infiniti G folks in the area.

Yooo, so down. Still a little stockish on my M, but would really want to see a M meet up. In the bay area.

Don't worry. Stock gang representing here!
I'm thinking a general meet, not necessarily VIP or any other niche.

I would definitely be down if there was a M meet. I stay in North Carolina and I have seen a couple of members from up here are from NC but I haven't met any members. I have even seen a couple of M37's on the road but not many M56's on the road
