Well I finally got the car running good. When I gett to about 4 psi you can start to hear a shhhhhhhhhhhhhh. The when I get to about 5psi it is really loud and constant. Is this the blow off valve or the wastegate getting stuck open? If you guys need video of it I can film it. The wastegate is suppose to have a 10psi spring in it. So this is why I am unsure, also it makes about the same noise as the bov when it goes off.

Forgot to add this greddy type rs tial wastegate

If the wastegate is vented to the atmosphere then it will make a distinct noise when it opens. It will be a very loud open header type of noise. If its an air leak type of noice then it's either piping or maybe a BOV.

Well it didnt work so I am guessing I have a leak somewhere in my pipes I made a boost leak tester but I didnt find anything. I also hear a slight whistle when I hit the gas. Is it safe to drive like that?

can't you just pop the hood, and see if you can see, or feel where the air is comming from?

Kinda hard/stupid to try to create boost while parked in your garage. =\

Where are you getting your vacuum signals from for everything? (WG, BOV, and gauge...)

You should be able to disconnect the BOV. Stick a cork in it if you must.

If it's hissing at idle you have a hose loose.

My wastegate and bov are coming off the brake booster. My vacuum/boost is coming of the fpr. My wastegate is suppose to have a 10psi spring.

maybe you are hitting 10psi, but your boost gauge is bad?

That's what I was thinking maybe hapened. Try tapping off other vacuum sources and go for a spin? I usually get my boost gauges signal off a T'd line at the back of the plenum and WG right off the turbo.

even if the wastegate is set to lets say 7 psi, it will start to crack and open at 4-5 psi so it might just be your wastegete.

There is still a huge difference in wastegate exhaust and the hiss of a vacuum/boost leak. One is like an open header, the other is like an air compressor.

More then likely it is a pipe but I cant find if I am not driving. I tried the boost leak tester but I cant find it. I guess I will take it to the dyno and look from there.

wow, that thing sounds like ur in a tunnel or something. when i hit full throttle mine sounds a little like that, more like the sound produced when u spray water in a large metal pipe. maybe its ur turbo piping?

I accidently hit the pwr on my hks evc IV and the noise went away. So I am going to look into that when I go to the dyno. Now instead of the noise kicking in around 3psi -5psi I dont get that anymore I just cant seem to hit anymore then 5 psi. Anyone else have a problem like that? Thanks

I guess I was wrong about my last statement. I went to the dyno to see if i could see what pipe was leaking while it was running, After a few runs I decide to go under the car with a flash light to see what was going on. Well Once I hit boost my wastegate slowly starts to open and it stays open until you release the gas pedal. Anybody have a clue on how to fix this? I wonder if I put that little circular peice that goes in the wastegate wrong. Could it be because I have the line that goes in the side of the wastegate coming from teh compressor housing, would it make a difference if I changed that? It is going to be hard to take the wastegate off. I guess I will probably just have to take it off then take it apart to see what spring is in it. Thanks

sounds like your WG is working fine, since you have a HKS EVC, why not try raising the boost to see if it will go higher? it sounds like you have the wrong spring in your WG.

I had the evc powered off and it didnt make a difference. Once I hit boost the thing starts to open. Maybe I put that circular peice in wrong that is the only thing I can think of. I know that, that will cause you to leak when boosting. I will just have to wait till tommorow. (dam rain)
