I swapped mine for a DOHC this summer, its not that hard if you know what your doing. Just a pain waiting on all the parts. You are planning on rebuilding the DE before swapping right? waiting on clutch, pistons, bearings, rod bolts, exc. is the worst part. other then all the origional parts with the motor you just need to get a power steering res, ecu, wiring harness, and a gauge cluster if your planning on using stock tach, or just buy a external tach and forget about your old one like I did. Its a pain trying to get you'r stock guages out. Other then that its not to much trouble. But if your in a real city unlike the little town in kansas Im in then you might be able to get parts real fast so it might not take you as long as it took me. make sure and get new timing chains, guides and tensioners, 1200 miles after I put my engine in the timing jumped and I had to tear it apart. still waiting on timing kit.

If you have any questions email me at [email protected] make sure and get some 8:1 compression forged pistons, I went all motor 11.1:1 compression and the power wasnt to impressive, until you shoot a lil nitrous in it. but I still wish I went turbo.

seems like many people did the kAE to KADE swap in the summer.. including me XDif the transmission is for the s13 and you have a s14 motor, your speed sensor will be off, affecting your tach, mph. i left mine like that as an excuse to the police. hahaha.also, a/c , wiring harness ect. could cause problems. especially s14 to s13 swap.

oh yeah the 24E AC compressor doesnt work with the DE so you'll need a new compressor if you want ac. I just took it out to shed some weight and I was thinking about strapping a small supercharger in its place.

Have you seen any supercharger kits like your're talking about? I took the a/c out for weight too, but hey, if you know of something that can bolt in there with a little fabrication, lets talk.

They dont actually make a kit but superchargers are about as universal as a turbo if your engine can handle it. You just have to be handy with a welder. But I dont have the money to start on that project yet.

Mackdaddy240: Theres a Mercedes supercharger that will fit on the a/c bracket. Its a little older, but that just makes it cheaper. : ) Only problem is...well giving up your a/c and front defroster.

Let me get a positive on the model of the supercharger, I don't want to enter false information, but I WILL get the type. Keep an eye on the thread.

Tight you think it could be found at a salvage yard? What year mercedes? and do you know if it is oil cooled internally or do you have to run lines? If I can get a really cheap used parts I'd definately do this cause I'm on a college student budget and I'm sick of paying to fill the bottle and my freinds who can't keep up say its cheating:biggrin:

I'm on the college budget too...nimus the nitrous. If I can find one of the Mercedes in the yard I'm definitely getting a hold of it. I believe its going to need lines, but don't quote me. I've had a 12 hpur day today and have a 14 hour day tomorrow, but as soon as I get the info I'll drop it here or to you in email. Amazed to see that someone else in interested.

Mackdaddy240: C230. Comes from a 96 and up. Looks and fits like an a/c compressor.

sorry if this is thread hijacking.as far as the E to DE swap you need AC if you want it, and the wiring.

This is more for the future, as I too am on a College budget (last semester, only 9 hours left). Hopefully in a few months I can turn a degree into a paycheck.

I ran a search on here awhile back for superchargers. I came up with a concern that the KADE's crank may be prone to extreme vibration and subsequent failure at high RPM. Does anybody make a balanced crank for the KADE?

If you have abit more money and skill to build something yourself? How about a Centrifugal Supercharger? These are basically turbos that have their exhaust turbines removed and the compressor just runs off of a belt and gearset (to increase engine RPM to something the compressor can use). Since it is just a turbo compressor it is very high efficiency, does not put a large load on the engine, and is physically compact. Just some food for thought.

I gather from this thread that putting an S14 KADE engine in instead of an S13 KAe engine in a 1990 240sx should not be too hard right? Even easier if you dont care for the AC, which I don't. It never gets that hot in New Jersey. How much do rebuilt S14 engines cost anyways?
