Is it Safe to install LED strips to a HID converstion kit?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

okay i am not asking about the EX but you guys are so smart on this forum that i have to try asking you first.

i am installing on my friends car and he has a 2000 honda accord.it has low beam which has a HID conversion kit attached to it. he has a daytime running light. but this is also his high beams. i never seen that type of concept before. when he turns on his high beams the daytime running light just becomes brighter. the problem i face now is which of these 2 lights should i connect the LED strip to?

if i connect to the low beams i am not sure if it is safe like whether it would cause a short circuit some how.

if i connect tot he day time running lights the problem is i dont know whether there will be electrical issues when he turns on his high beams since when he switches on the highbeams there is more power running to the bulbs.

the LED strip runs on a 12v source. any help you guys?

Neither.

First, I should point out about his DRL.There are many cars which use high-beam with reduced power as DRL.If your friend installed HID kit for the high beam, its starter doesn't get enough power to ignite HID bulbs. This might cause problem with stater and/or bulb. Some sort of by-pass should have been used.

Second, the starter generates a pulse of extremely high voltage(600~3000V) current to ignite the HID bulbs, Xenon molecules require great energy to light up.

Hope this helps...
