My 91 Q has been acting a little weird for the past week (poor acceleration, semi-rough idle, vibrates a little during acceleration) so I took it in to see what was up. Turns out my motor mounts are messed up and my drive shaft is extremely worn. Gonna have to replace 3 motor mounts and get a new drive shaft. Does $1,500-1,700 sound right (including labor)? Right now I can't afford to get this stuff done, so I have to wait for a few months. Is it safe to drive for that period of time? What kind of problems could it create? Thanks

Worst case your driveshaft breaks off, beats a hole through the bottom of the car - or stands up causing you to wreck. I guess it just depends on how badly it's worn... I wouldn't be doing any brake stands if I were you!

Honestly I've never heard of one breaking loose, but who knows... The vibrations could potentially damage other stuff, like your transmission...

Sounds to me like the ar is already on borrowed time. Be nice to it and get it repaired by a competent professional.

1500 for 3 new mounts an an OEM driveshaft is a pretty good deal!

I agree, assuming we're talking OEM parts and someone who's qualified to swap them!
