I kinda like the digital ones, they look cool. Does anyone know how hard it is to swap the analong cluster for the digital?

you can you just need a digital from 91 and up, and the cluster and the sub harness. The dash too if you don't wanna cut your dash for the HUD

with doing the analog to digital swap is the HUD display ABSOLUTELY needed or could the swap just be done with the harness and gauges without the HUD display?

i dont feel like swapping dashes nor cutting my mint looking dash up to retrofit a HUD display..hence why i ask...and yes i searched my anus off looking for this info

I would say no from an engineer's standpoint. I'm guessing the hud display is a piggyback module and not having it plugged in shouldn't hurt it at all.

+1, cluster+subharness, no hud is necessary to make the digital work. It is important to get a dohc one though while with a regular cluster you only have to swap out the tach for a dohc one for the hud clusters its best to stick with a dohc cluster for dohc motor or sohc for sohc motor.
