you can put 3.5 pistons in your block and you'll have a 3.3l stroker. you can swap your cams for the 3.5 with adapters. why replace heads? that won't do anything.

all above is simplified examples.

ok thanks. so how much would the cams and adapters cost me and would the timing be advanced or retarded, or what other things would have to be reprogramed with the cams?

also what power gains would i get the pistons and cams? should i also look forward to replacing the crank aswell?

with the piston swap you would need the 3.5 crank iirc. i think that nobody has done it though due to the possibility of the pistons hitting the head at high rpms? can't remember so you'll have to search a bit.

with the cams it's about lift and duration more than timing. idk how much they'd cost you but a guy on the org makes the adapters for the 3.5 cams.you can also look for jwt cams. kzoosho has a cammed vq30 so you can ask him for the gains and pricing. i think he might be even selling his cams.

i'd recommend a thin aliminium spacer. the problem is that with 3.5 pistons the compression ratio drops down to 9.5:1. add a space/gasket and it'll be even lower. i haven't seen anyone do it probably because the outcome of a 3.3 stroker hp after the compression loss would not be beneficial enough to invest so much money and time.

basically the stroker cost more then a 3.5 swap. thats why no one does it. i was going to go that route but decided not to after looking into costs. id be interested in the cam swap as well. even though i only have 140k on my engine wi was thinking of building one with some port work to the heads for some more fun. then again i have been toying with the idea of converting my car to rwd woth a 350z setup. all depends if i can get into a house soon with a garage

I have a cammed motor now. If i was to do it again im not sure i would . To me it doesnt justify the cost for the power. In my case i can turn up the boost and make more power. If you plan to stay n/a then yes cams are the ish where hp is very pricey. Once you go boosted you wont look at cams unless you are revving to 8k.
