Is it possible to pass Smog with a RB25DET engine in california?

Hi, I just moved to Cali and I wanted to put an RB25DET engine in a 240SX. I'm not sure what year would be best suitable for the swap and was wondering what year would be best and if the RB25DET is a good swap. I also saw that California has a Smog check every two years and if having the RB25DET in the 240SX would be a problem... I'm fairly new to fixing up cars and just want to try a project on the side of things. Thought that probably fixing up a 240SX would be fun and throwing in the RB25DET might seem fun as well... just need information. thx.

dude you moved to the wrong state... unless you are planing it on off road use only or non ops.

even if you do find "wink, wink" some one tha will pass it. you still have the cops to deal with.

Because you'll have to bribe someone to pass it, if you can even find them any more for "that cheap" - they've been getting shut down these past couple years very very badly.

possible to pass Smog w/ RB25DET? yes... if you do it illegally. Engine doesn't pass visual. simple as that.

Get a 2nd wiring harness for the swap, keep all of your original parts, install the RB, and put your original engine in each time you need to smog the car.
