Is it possible to modify any other on board computers part of the G50 Q45?

For the 1990-1993 Guys:

I would be interested to know if we could make the TCS computer maybe faster or "smarter".

Or maybe make the anti-theft computer set the alarm in 5 seconds rather than 30 seconds.

Or change some of the timed stuff part of the timer control module.

And for the active suspension well is it possible to change that computer too?

For the 1994-1996 Guys:

For the 1994-1996 guys maybe make the BCM do some cooler things.

Can't wait to hear what you guys have to say, and I know I may have missed some computers.

What are you doing when you come up with all these wild ideas? Probably should start by figuring how to change the HVAC display from degrees F to degrees C.

Add to your list eliminating the delay and fade in when using the preset buttons on the head unit. It takes too long to go through the 6 presets to find some good music.

Good luck with the mods.

Unfortunately there are no internal schematics available for these other modules, so they would need to be reverse engineered.

An experienced EE could do [EACH] in a few months of full time work.

Who wants to pony up $30,000 per module to recreate the schematics.

http://www.powertraincontrolso...l.phphas already designed a replacement TCU with computer reprogramable software for ~~ $1000.

Sure, as Dennis says, it is a money, time and knowledge problem. How much do you want to spend?

I usually come up with these idea's in the shower, "Listening to a girl", before I go to bed.

But here is something that should help others in the future modify control modules: http://www.the12volt.com/relays/page5.asp#lsp.

That link will surely help me with the J30 keyless entry on a 90-93 Q45 (92-93 Q45 are the easiest.)

There is a Technical Service Bulliten on the radio delay so I guess Infiniti and there original customers beat us to it. TSB #:ITB92-052

Basically all 1990 and some 1991 Q45 radio take to long to go through "preset" and "scan" so sometime in 1991 they fixed that. So Mike simply get a radio from a 1992-1993 and you should be okay.

I am currently disassembling some control units to see which ones can be easily modified.

So far only the Keyless entry control unit from a J30 has two jumpers for "Auto lock" and "ID entry".

I am in the process of taking apart one of four Traction Control Units but it has some tri-head screw which makes it tough because those are rare and the screw driver for that screw is just as rare.

Control units that can be modified:

Control units that can not be modified so far include:

Anti Theft control unit from a 1990-1993 Q45 and 1992-1997 J30 1990-1993 Q45 Timer control unit1990-1993 Q45 Door lock timerJ30 Door lock timer 1990-1993 Q45 ASCD (Cruise control) unit1990-1996 Q45 Power steering control unit
