I notice if the alarm system horn is honking one can't start the car unless you shut the alarm off with the keyfob. I am worried that if the Fob stopped working or was lost and the alarm went off myself or my daughter could be stranded someplace and have to be towed, even if we had a spare key.
A second reason for wanting to permanently disable it is it is very annoying for the alarm to go off if you sit on the car seat after the engine has been off for a while, for example if you are working on the car. Besides, who would want to steal an 18 year old car.
So is it possible to disable the alarm and security system but have everything else work like it normally does?
Also, if the alarm went off and for instance the battery in the keyfob was dead, is there anyway to start the car and shut off the alarm with just the key, like maybe disconnecting and reconnecting the battery?

Locking then unlocking the door with a key shuts off the alarm.

Up under the dash next to the steering column is the security box, once you find it simply unplug.

Thread content/advice is garnered from defeating the factory security system on 2 race j30s....

I figured someone would ask, well the car HAD been grand! 4 months ago, at the end of a race, we were in a dominant lead at Charlotte motor speedway (yes a J30 winning a race on a NASCAR track!) when lapped traffic pulled the ultimate oppsie and punted me into the concrete wall completely destroying the car, there was fire, ambulance and time in bed.

3 months ago we started to build another junkyard bound J, we recycled everything possible re-using the engine, trans, 300zx brake package and some body panels. Yesterday we ran a hooked on driving event logging 100 race miles to shake down the new car for its debut in 2 weeks @ Sebring
While there is plenty to do (namely rear ride height and body roll) our lap times were consistent with our last outing.
Click to enlarge. Who can see something "wrong" with the new body lines? Answer in the new thread.

Go to the FSM section (I'm posting from a phone)

Grab the correct year FSM from here:

There is a part blow up diagram for around the steering system. Cut the orange wire.

Lol I don't know how to "splice" and "ground" a wire. Can I just cut the devil?
