hey all, just wondering, would it be doable to convert a single turbo engine to twin turbo, such as the RB25DET?? Just a tech question, cause if you could do it, it would be able to produce more boost with less turbo lag. I'm new, and only 16, so please don't flame me if this is a stupid question, thanks.:firehead

I won't flame you but I would ask you a question. Why would you want to

1. fabricate a manifold or modify a set of RB26 ones to bolt onto the RB25(four bolt holes are different)

2. fabricate the convoluted oil supply and drain plumbing to feed two turbos.

3. fabricate the water cooling system for both if you are going with water cooled center sections.

4. fabricate the double downpipes for the twins or buy a GT-R one if you used GT-R manifold.

Additionally have you considered the fact that you will double your costs at every turn and increase the complexity of the install for no real gain in performance.

A properly sized single will respond almost as fast as smaller twins and will allow more top end. What happens when turbo #2 coughs up it's guts? buy one new one or two new ones?

I would invite you to look at the Supra guys, what do they all do? Go big single.

So to answer your question, yes you can mount twins on the RB25 with some modifications but it is not worth the trouble.

it can be done, obviously, but it depends if you have the energy, time, and MONEY. wouldn't be practical either.
