The AC in my sisters 240SX is not working and it turned out it finally ran out of charge. I think it takes R12 or something but Is it possilbe to MOdify it somehow to run R134A in the car instead? I know this Q seems odd but I am curious.

THanks, Steve

That's actually a very good question. In fact, someone should really do an faq on it here for the folks who insist on doing their own a/c work.

I don't recommend doing it if you aren't experienced in working with a/c, but it's no problem for someone who knows what they're doing.

134a works ok in it. Make sure you either have your stock radiator fan shroud still in place or have switched to electric fans. Aside from the normal conversion considerations, no special modifications are required in this case.
