Is it possible to burn up an oxygen sensor? RPMS up and down

My 91 240 rpms were revving up and down, sometimes dropping out completely and the car would die when deaccelerating or stopping. I changed out the sensor and it was better for months then worse suddenly. Should I change it out again or could it be something else? And yes I'm new at this so try to be understanding please. Thanks--

thtas not an O2 problem, sounds like tha idle air circuit, moving to 240sx section
