Is it possible?

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

What's goin on fellas? I'm pretty new to this whole car enthusiast thing so the following question may sound extremely dumb to most of you out there. I drive a stock Nissan 200sx (not sport edition). I was wondering if it were possible to upgrade the stock engine in it to the same one in a 240sx with turbo. Also, will i still be able to run nitrous and turbo without too much modification? (other than dropping in a whole new engine of course- oh and a 9 inch K&N air filter made for a 5.0)

There's a FWD version of the same engine, the SR20DET that is quite available for import from Japan.

Other ideas would be to buy a late USDM SR20DE and turbo it, there are lots of kits available. Or you could import a Japanese SR20VE and turbo it, even.

However, putting in one straight from a 240 would be hard because it is oriented the wrong way (longitudal, rather than transverse) and has a RWD tranny (which is not simply swappable with a FWD).

Meaning, you'd have to make a driveshaft (eek-$!) and wiring harness and God knows what else.

Is your 200SX a B14 or an older S11/S12?

The B14 is FWD and could easily swap an SR20DE from a 95-99 200SX SE-R or 98-99 Sentra SE (B14s), a classic 91-94 SE-R (B13), a 00-01 Sentra SE (B15) or almost any Infiniti G20. Or you could go JDM with a turbo/intercooled engine from a Bluebird, Almera, Sunny GTi or something similar.

The S11/S12 is RWD and while motor mounts and things might work to swap a KA24DE or a JDM SR20DET from a Silvia, I think the older chassis used carburation in their original drivetrains. So there would be some work upgrading the fuel system.
