that too much back pressure will cause the engine to backfire through the intake ???

Backfiring through the intake is genrally timing related.

ok heres the sich.. it runs fine on low rpm. on High rpm it pretty much says NO, sucks getting up hills.

i thought that i might be because i have an after market intake stage 2 cams but stock exhaust, thus creating a huge amout of backpressure.. so much that it can't get rid of exhaust fast enough, thus choking out the spark.

Your ecu is tuned for the cams and stuff right? If not that's your problem.

the Brian crower website said they were plug and play.. that would kinda suck if they were BSing me...

"Plug and play application. Short duration for nice street manners, slight lope at idle. Excellent all purpose spec.OEM spring OK. V2 Specification" ^Stright from the BC website^

When they say "plug & play" they probably meant physically. A lot of larger cams require clearancing on the head to clear the larger cam lobes. An ecu tune is probably a good idea. As is a better exhaust. Oh yeah, and commas help too.

Crayirish is right, a good tune is definitely a good idea. In my opinion most significant mods should have a good tune done afterwards. That said, only time my KA backfired like that it shot flames out the intake because timing was completely backwards. If that was the case though you would most likely have bent valves like I did.

I recommend reading this pdf http://www.jimwolftechnology.c...E.PDF and making sure the cams are installed right.

Just want to give an update on the situation.. I just put my 2.5 inch exhaust on and it seems to have resolved the high back pressure issue. but i do agree that the cam timing may be off slighly.. maybe even the ignition timing. I'll look into it further...

on the other hand.. im running into another problem with the coolent not circulating.. the radiator fills up and emptys into the resevoir and the engine over heats.. so im assuming theres either a blockage in the radiator or the block/head.

Yeah even off slightly will cause some issues, mine was off a tooth and I had to redo it. Are either of the radiator hoses cold? Also have you ever replaced the thermostat?

Its not. There is however a big difference between these two statements:

thought that i might be because i have an after market intake stage 2 cams but stock exhaust

thought that i might be because i have an after market intake, stage 2 cams, but stock exhaust

Even thats not technically correct, but it makes much more sense. I've found that when you ask others for help, being as clear as possible is a good thing. Good luck with your problem bro.

backfire's throu the intake is definitly from a valve being open when your spark ignites fuel...seems your sparkin a little early..best to find DTC and work those cams again before you have serious damage to your valves...and since your having an issue with your circulation of coolant..i sugest taking the pump off and replacing it..sometimes the impellors rust out..and a word of advice..in winter run full 100% antifreeze and in summer run 50/50...some folks run just water and rust crap out..hope this helps..keep us posted.

I'll let you know what happends when i swap the radiator. since the coolent is moving and filling up the radiator and resi i doutb the water pump is the issue, but i'll look into it.

PS the lack of power is due to a bad auto trans.. its slippy

its not the water pump i just took it off today and it looks brand new..

ok so if the radiator is fine, the thermostat is new, and the water pump appears to be fine.. what could cause the radiator to over flow into the resi. and make the engine over heat?

usually when that happens it has to do with timing. you probably igniting fuel when your intake valves are still open. check your timing fo sho!!!
