Sen. Hillary Clinton trails Obama by 159 delegates and is 201 delegates shy of capturing the nomination.

After six months and 61 contests, the Democratic primary season finally draws to a close Tuesday, but the big question is whether this historic and at times bitter battle for the party's presidential nomination will also come to a close.

1 of 2 Montana and South Dakota hold primaries Tuesday, but there's much more at stake than just the 31 pledged delegates in those two contests.

Barack Obama is just 42 delegates shy of the 2,118 now needed to clinch the nomination. There are not enough pledged delegates at stake in Montana and South Dakota to put Obama over the top, but a rush of endorsements by the remaining undeclared "superdelegates" could allow him to claim victory when he takes the stage in Minnesota Tuesday evening.

Superdelegates are the approximate 825 Democratic governors, members of Congress, and party officials who each get to vote in the delegate nominating process. Around 200 of them have yet to endorse either Obama or his rival Sen. Hillary Clinton.

It looks like it is Obama vs. McCain. I'm hoping Hillary is too old to put us through this again in 8 years.

She won't make a run again.

She'll hit the lecture circuit or fall back on her law background, but methinks she doesn't have the balls to accept this kick in the head and recover gracefully.

I bet a year's salary her first words to Bill after her concession speech are "Goddamn it, this is all YOUR fault!"

If this woman had any grace, she'd have bowed out a long time ago.

As a New Yorker I can not imagine why anyone would want her to be president. When she ran for senate here she did so for two reasons.

1. There was no incumbent. Our 4 term senator Dan Moynihan was stepping down.

2. New York had no residency requirement to run for senate, only that they own property.

She has done nothing for New York, and barely voted, even in the required vote. We knew when she ran the first time that she was only running as a stepping stone to the presidential seat. It's all she's ever wanted. She was certain to loose to Rudy Giuliani, so she ran a smear campaign designed to embarrass him out of the race. It worked, and the candidate they put in his place was a joke. She tried these same tactics with Obama several times and the party put a stop to it. She has voted every time FOR the wars she claims to be against.
Wikipedia wrote:Clinton strongly supported the 2001 U.S. military action in Afghanistan, saying it was a chance to combat terrorism while improving the lives of Afghan women who suffered under the Taliban government. Clinton voted in favor of the October 2002 Iraq War Resolution, which authorized United States President George W. Bush to use military force against Iraq, should such action be required to enforce a United Nations Security Council Resolution after pursuing with diplomatic efforts.

However, Clinton voted against the Levin Amendment to the Resolution, which would have required the President to conduct vigorous diplomacy at the U.N., and would have also required a separate Congressional authorization to unilaterally invade Iraq. She did vote for the Byrd Amendment to the Resolution, which would have limited the Congressional authorization to one year increments, but the only mechanism necessary for the President to renew his mandate without any Congressional oversight was to claim that the Iraq War was vital to national security each year the authorization required renewal.
She's the epitome of old politics. Saying one thing, doing another. Opportunistic, and self serving. She wants to go down in history as the first woman president. That is ALL she cares about. She does not care about New York, she does not care about the US. She cares about getting in the history books.

That is about as accurate as it gets. She is in it for Hillary and what Hillary can get. Just like Bill was. I only hope she retires after the defeat that is coming her way.

This doesn't solve our next problem though. Who should be president...

I'm by no means a Bill Clinton supporter, but I'd welcome him back over her clownass anyday.

Boy, the same thing can almost be said about Barack Obama and Illinois.

The democratic party is fracturing and i love it. The republicans don't seem far behind. I hope they do split and the pandemonium gives a third party a chance to get a toehold in American politics.
