this is my first sr20det engine and i would like to know if its okay/safe to just unbolt the turbo and stuff and see if they are in good shape? Is there a timing in a turbo where it has to go in, in the exact same way i took it out? Anyways let me know whats up and if this is a good idea or not? thanks guys

Go for it. Just make sure to use new gaskets.

I wouldnt take the turbo off the manifold the bolts are hard to get off and once you break the tabs it will be hard to keep them from loosening without replacing them
