Is it ok to use overdrive 1 2 3?

i miss drivin stick so i was wondering will using the 1 2 3 on the j30 ok? or will it be bad for the transmission? will it cause my trans fluid to get dirty faster?

Its completely OK to do it because all your doing is telling the TCU (Transmission Control Unit) when you want to shift.

If you don't drive hard and change the fluid regularly then it wont' "get dirty faster".

Personally I would only use the lower gears if I'm climbing a steep hill, towing or in deep snow. You got remember your J is an old car, If it hasn't been driven that way for most of its life (shifting 1, 2, 3) there is a high chance you can break something in the transmission.

I agree with Paul Wall & driverdriver. But don't expect any performance gains out of it.

I leave mine in first for my once a week redline carbon removal session. Redline and lift about 6 or 7 times.Other than that she stays in D.
