is it ok to use carb cleaner on the maf

no. Carb cleaner is too strong for the mafs sensor, it may mess it up for good.

theres a mafs cleaner at the parts store. its the same price as carb cleaner.

I used electrical parts cleaner meant for alternators and stuff, i dont think it leaves residue or anything and should be safe for the sensor wire lattice thing

A good cleaner like CRC electrical cleaner or MAFs cleaner is all that is recommended it has no residuals and willn't destort the signal from solvent buildup. Carb cleaner, most tb cleaners, and brake clean has solvents to loosen particals and is too aggresive for a maf.

DO NOT USE CARB CLEANER ON YOUR MAF! Carb cleaner leaves a residue designed to lubricate carburetor parts. This residue will jack up your MAF. Like you already heard, they sell MAF cleaner everywhere.
