Is it OK to put 3M Plastic shield on top of the softer 'Scratch Shield' paint?

I do lots of highway in crap weather and have suffered lots of nicks and dings up front from flying sand, debris, etc. My last car got the 3M clear plastic stuff applied to it and has been totally awesome.

But I see there's this new paint on the 2009 G37.. is there any reason NOT to have the 3M stuff put on? I just don't want to harm the original new paint.
