Is it normal to smell gas under the hood?

Yeah. i was inspecting my car, after 2 monhts, of still having a bad idle.. and i smell gas when i pop the hood.. at first i must not have paid attention.. but now i can smell it.. it smell stronger as i go twards the firewall.. im thinking maybe an injector seal has gone bad. But, i dont see any gas anywhere..

doesn't fuel turn to vapor?

check the bottom of your hood and see if there are any thingies on the underside

that started to happen to me too, and it turned out to be a few of the injector seals, so i replaced all of them

Im sure youve done this, but check all the fuel lines and such for leaks/cracking. Also replace your fuel filter and pump to fix that idle problem.

replacing the pump is kinda extreme... filter & new fuel injection <not regular fuel> hoses w/ clamps would do just fine, along w/ what others said to be the fuel injectors/seals...

I had a crack on one injector & bad seals on another; but changed all of them to be safe.
