turn the motor off, and then run the system. if the needle jumps it should be a sure-indicator.

now the natural position for the needle to fall in at an "off" position is much farther below the rest that it sits on, so it seems like ti could mkae a difference if the needle is on the stop or not.

with that said, it could also be your bass is hittin so hard it makes you jump a lil and your foot causes the throttle to jump up and down.

so try with your foot off the throttle too, and see whats up

otherwise, strip that **** out, it weighs too damn much

A long time ago I actually had an Amp that would pull to much power and make the car not function properly and my rpms would be everywhere. SEnt it in for repair and it worked fine after that.just a side note

Depending on how much it goes up and down, and how much power you're pulling from it, the load on the alternator could be high enough to make the engine drop in RPM. I've seen as high as a 400RPM drop from a hard hit on my friend's 2800 watt system.

I can tell you from experience that the S13 alternator is weaksauce. Youll need a cap or an upgraded alternator. Make sure your stereo wiring is separate of the main harness also.

wtf was i talking about then, i dont even have a system... i was just trying to spark some interest so someone who knew could actually help him... (lie.)

Okay, two great alternator upgrades are either the Nissan Quest 110amp. Which i've never done, but is easily searchable, but from what i remember you have to widen one of the mounting holes, and you might have to widen the power cable, but this is extremely easy to do.

i have an s14 se (you gotta get the one with fog lights) 90 amp alternator, its in my s13. To mount this, you only need to widen the power cable hole. it couldn't be easier. the only downside is without shimmin you wont be able to use an s13 alt again on that harness. However, it is nearly bolt and its 20 amps more than your 70 amp
