im hoping its my clutch that is my problem that is making my s14 so damn slow (17.9 in the 1/4 :( )

anyways.. i decided to do a lil test tonight.. i kept it floored while i was driving and watched the RPMs as i shifted...

keep in mind that it was floored the second it was in gear... and i shift very fast.

from a stop light i shifted every shift at 5,000rpms

2nd to 3rdi shifted exactly at 5,000rpm and got it in gear in no time... still floored

engine dropped to 4,000RPMs and then continued

3rd to 4thshifted at 5,000RPM ... same story, still floored

engine dropped to 4,000RPM

now i decided to give it a 4K test

same story... streetlight turns green and i go

1st - 2ndshift at 4,000rpm... keep it floored

engine droped to 3,000rpm and then continued

2nd-3rdsame story

3rd-4thsame story

then i tried shifting at 6,000rpm

instead it droped to 4200/4300 rpm each shift...

please guys, could it be anything else besides the clutch!??i cant even chirp 2nd with it... i had that b1tch floored and the rpms were dropping then would catch itself and then go on...

ushually when your clutch is slipping, when you shift hard and floor it like you are talking about, your rpms will go up a little and then drop back down as the clutch stops slipping and grabs. something like this, its hard to explain. but it doesnt sound like your clutch is bad.

its supposed to drop (thats it gripping)

when your clutch is just starting to suicide it will be in the 5000rpm+ range and when you shift from 6500rpm .. lets say 3 to 4th when you let the clutch up all the way it will act as if you were letting it up slowly.... and will gradually come back down.... you will also know when your clutch is going out because when driving around normally it wont have that "jolt" when letting the clutch up fast....

your car may be in a poor state of tune.... or just something plain wrong with it. people have done low 15 second runs with so called "bad clutches" and your 1/4 mile times just show that:

you might be launching horribly... open diff makes matters worse...

shifting too early..... or late... if your bouncing of the rev limiter shame on you.....

the car just isnt up to it... low power could be many things... but it definately needs to be looked into

Well it's not your clutch... if you need some more confirmation, try going into 4th around 2500 RPMs and floor it, if the RPMs shoot up like you're in neutral, your clutch is shot.

Unplug the harness connectors going to both and record the voltage coming out of each.

I don't have the specs, but you should be able to find them on here somewhere.
