Driving some of the new audi's and VW's has really helped me notice that nissan really skipped town when it comes to traction control. ( not talking about the stability control) Im not sure if nissan revised the traction control system on the newer HR version Z's, but the early model Z's have a horible TC system. Even the chrysler 300 has a better system!!! If the Z feels any loss of traction in the rear, it completely cuts of power to the rear wheels for what feels like a couple seconds. It slows you down so much.

any imput?

04 G35. VDC isn't bad. Does what it's suppose to do, and when shut off, lets me do as I wish.

There's a big difference between TCS and VDC also. TCS simply cuts power and may apply braking to the drive wheels.

VDC will control all the wheels through braking, and helps control the car when in some questionable situations. It all works off of wheel spin.

actually i did mean VDC. (just took another look at the button on my car).

I thought it was just tcs, because thats all i feel it doing, cutting power. And it does a good job at that.

Porsche, bmw and even chrysler have designed their stability systems to actually make you faster and not just slow you down. But like i said, i did not even notice how advanced they where until i drove them.

even ford has a better system, and yes i do mean the dreaded mustang .

all of those car have stability system designed to keep a limited amount of power to the wheels. to do this they also include yaw sensors, steering angle sensors, speed sensors, and a whole mess of other electronics. And all nissan seems to do is cut power!

does the tcs also shut off when the vdc is turned off? Because i don't have a separate button for the tcs.

ya, me neither. tcs turns off when the vdc button is pressed.

TCS is the cheap version of VDC. If you have VDC, then you don't have TCS. If you have TCS, then sorry, you have a sucky version of VDC.

I've heard some bad stuff about TCS on the early 350z's where it actually makes the 'situation' the computer thought you were in much more dangerous and hard to correct after it cuts the power to the rear. Meh... I hate that stuff.. it's for p******. HLSD is all you need.

lol, my vlsd isnt that bad actually. it works fine for me, and 50% of my driving time is spent on the track.

as for the the VDC, i have to turn that of every time now, and im not taking about drifting. thats for auto x. I would have to say that the nissan 350z's vdc is the worst i have ever felt. honestly

but Im not saying that it doesnt do it's job, cuz it does. It saves alot of people in some iffy situations. But it isnt even close to some of the other car manufactuers stability control systems. you could be the best driver in the world but you will only be as good as your traction control. But maybe im just expecting too much, after all nissan isnt BMW. even thought they try their best to compete with them.
