is it legal to mount front liscense plate off-centered

I didnt want to have my liscence plate in the middle of my front bumper so i mounted it in the smaller cutout on the passenger side of my bumper, in front of where a fog light would be. Is it ok to have it off-centered like this or could I get pulled over?

just as long as it is in the front of you car and clearly visible.

I've driven for 3 1/2 years with no front license plate in southern california and never had a problem. I guess you may get crap for it if you're driving a car that's a little more flashy, with a large spoiler, aftermarket body kit, etc. If your car looks stock you probably won't have any problems leaving it off.
