I have been noticing a decrease in price for SR20 motors/clips, but it seems the inverse is true for installation. I have called a few places around here (Orlando Florida) and they all raised their prices on installs. One place has raised their manual conversion by 200 dollars, and thier install by 200 as well. What is going on here?

I just got an email from another place wanting 3000 for the motor install and if I want manual that will be another 1500 dollars.

My thoughts on it are this. The price of install is going up to make up for the fact that the price of the motors are falling (which I believe to be untrue. As the supply of motors decreases, we should start seeing a hike in prices to make up for the lower volume sold). I've helped out on many SR installs, and the guy I work with charges quite a bit less than what you're seeing down there. But recently, he made a comment he might have to start charging more to make up for the extra crap that goes into the installs. Hoses, clamps, etc all add up over the course of the install, and he's been losing a bit of money with each install.

Heck, I probably spent close to $60 just to redo my heater core lines because they were routed stupid when I bought the car.
