Just got a 2010 G37 Sedan. I'm born and raised in So Cal, no ethnic accent, I have trained the system, and I'm finding it is just HORRIBLE at recognizing my voice commands.

Does anyone else experience this? I just can't believe how bad it is - it's like it's using tech from 15 years ago.

I would rate my 2010 a 7 out of 10. Sometimes it's completely off on street names but state, city and street number are point on. The quirky thing I came across is that it won't recognize "ROUTE" as a street name (as in 1000 route 25 north). I have to say "RT" else it has no idea what I'm talking about.

I think it's pretty inexcusable that it's sooo bad. Just dumb things happen. For example, I hit the voice prompt first level and said "phone" and the damn thing responds with "home" and starts calc'ing a route. Or on my handset phone book, it will pull up my contact with the last name "currie" when I say "currie", it will also pull up "Jim" and "Ramie" as possible choices, but won't present "Curry" as an option.

The voice recognition that comes included on my Blackberry Curve is much better than what the car can do. I'm hoping it will "learn" to get better. At best, a $200 handset that is at least several years old in tech is outperforming the car??? Coming from older voice recog on Acura, BMW and Lexus, this is by far the worst.

If anyone has tips or hacks on how to make this work better, it would be MUCH appreciated.

Did you voice train it? I use alternate command mode...you have to know what the commands are (I think the 2009 is a bit different than the 2010).

the voice cammand has been good as far as navigating menus and saying numbers for me. But hasnt been that reliable with names yet.

in the cars defense i havent done the voice training or tryed the alternate command mode... been just using the car's recent call list or dailing straight from the phone...

My voice command has only about a 50% accuracy. Sometimes it work better than other times, sometimes I have to repeat and go back 3-4 times. It is frustrating because it comes up with a command where the back button does not always work.

What I would complain about is how much better the voice command on my 2006 M36x was. I never had problems and it worked so much better. I would hit the button, say "CALL HOME" and it would. Now I say after the prompt "PHONEBOOK", then after another prompt "HOME", and then after another prompt "DIAL". This leads to the high error rate. There is also an alternative way, but this way is better than that one.

Now I know that those who don't have Navagation, it works much like the M did.

I'm still trying to figure out why they did not get it right.

:wtf2:

It's not a perfect car...the limits on the audio and NAV while moving are way to restrictive. My first mod was the NAV bypass ;)
