I watched that clip on youtube:

http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=fQjkhhVV ... VpRE&gl=TR

Some part of it is the Kyushu plant where Our Rogues are born. Watch 3:50. I think, to test the engine they use this method.

For a refular car driver like me, without any experience in mechanics, that dynami thingie looks scary...

I know before it comes to the dealer in Canada, they somehow tested the car, but I just remeber how carefully and slowly I was driving my car to breakin the engine...

If I watch this movie before I purchased my car, I would definately drive more relaxed :yesnod

its a mobile website link that doesnt work. anyway you can post a computer version?

and the proper way to break in an engine, is to rip the crap out of it, the first few miles. thats how you properly set the rings, and clean up the bore/cylinder.

I think the question may have been: does each engine get an initial break-in on the dyno, or even a break-in after assembly around the test track? I can't say I have the answer, I know this would really slow down the process and take a lot of time.

One of the reasons we were impressed with the new Kia Sorento that my wife bought in 2011 was an inside-look documentary that we watched about the new Kia/Hyundai plant in Georgia where her Sorento was built. They showed all the amazing details of the build process, and the fact that every vehicle is test driven and broken-in around their test track prior to being delivered to dealerships. They had a whole crew of test drivers, and I think they spent about 7 minutes running the crap outta each car and completing their check list. If you do the math each guy would run through a ton of vehicles in a day.....as soon as I saw this I said "that would be my dream job man!!".

As for how Nissan does it, I'm not sure....

every plant has the final point in the assembly line as the dyno. (even motorcycles) its cheaper this way.

do some have every car take a spin on the track? maybe, idk. i do know that some manufactures usually pick one out of every 50 cars, and its taken and inspected really-really closely and test driven hard.

Thanks for the link, it definately appears that each vehicle heads to the dyno after assembly is complete, for a break-in and test of powertrain, steering and brake components. And I think Nissan agrees with ImStricken regarding the break-in process - run it hard for the few minutes of its life to properly seat those piston rings.

Thank you for posting the link in right format.

It is just an emotional moment to see how our babies were born...some of them are still in factory look, some of them became a MadMax vehicle (Like Casper's  ), but they are still all our babies... :yesnod
