I just bought an 1989 Nissian 240sx. I really like the look and the feel of the car, and got a really good deal. However When I'm driving on the highway every once in awhile it will keep shifing it's self out of overdrive and back again, it eventually works itself out, but I'm sure this is a start of a problem. I checked the fluid's and everything under the hood looks good. And whenever I hit bumps or i'm going fast the car likes to guide itself to one side or another. And finally..... On my way home from work the car started running hot, but only when I was idle a long time. Living in LA, you spend a lot of time stopped. When I came home I seen a tube from the coolant overfill tank just dangling. I'm sort of thinking it's just to let out the presure and any excess water or should it be connected to something and this is causing my slight overheating problem? I love the car and don't mind putting some money into it, as long as It's going to be worth it.

First off, Welcome to NICO!

It's hard for others to judge whether your car will be worth it to you.. Search around here and in 240Technical section for some problem-specific topics. Hang in there, the guys (and some girls) on here absolutely love thier cars, no matter the cost. Pick up a factory service manual, and start working out the bugs. Again, welcome, and enjoy your time here.

Phil :)
