Before this gets out of hand, quick google search will prove out this is from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back:

here

Maybe I missed the reason why this was brought up. I've only seen the movie once and it was a while back. To be honest, I don't remember this...

lol the only time my gf has driven my car was once when I let her move it out of the driveway so I could mow without shooting grass on it...she never asks and since she has a 2.5s she knows what it feels like to drive my car.

ANy of you reading this with a low profile vehicle know about driving over speed bumps diagonally, or hitting slanted inclines or declines diagonally, and I mean SLOW and diagonall... if you don't have this setup, or have never had this setup, then I'm afraid i wouldn't let you drive my car either without a proper tutorial on how to properly drive a low profile vehicle.

Its seems like it would be obvious, but its not.. the difference between 5 mph and 2 mph is HUGE when you're driving a low profile vehicle...
Doctor Rob this is one where we are in absolute agreement on.

My wife is not allowed to drive my car - lowered or not - I half joked to her that she is only clear to drive my car during a medical emergency. The one exception to this rule was - when I bought the car in California and drove it to baltimore - wifey was my Beyonce for the trip and she helped me drive. I explained to her that during the cross country trip she will have more than enough an opportunity to drive the car - however that priviledge ends when we get to Baltimore.

My wife doesnt care about pot holes, nails, door dings, parking under trees notorius for those damn berries that look like snails when the drop and stick to your car, etc.

The only new car we bought was my Dodge Ram - the second day we had the truck (I had to go out of town and left the truck wiht her) - she made a vampire like scratch on it - We hadn't even had it a whole 24 hours.

It doesnt matter if my car is lowered modded or not - if it is my car - then I drive it period. The G is my car, the truck is now a couple years old so I dont care as much about scratches on it. I often find scratches and dings on the van -to which my wife hasnt a clue. She one bent one of the rims on the van, she hit a curb she CLAIMS to avoid hitting either a car to the left or the racoon in the front - I told her she should have hit the racoon.

The streets of Baltimore are not the best so I know my rims would be toast - she wants an RX-8 or some other sports car for her next car - i keep telling her she needs a hummer or something rugged - maybe even a old military surplus vehicle.

sammyboy wrote:Dont do it. I don't know about you but you have a lot more mods then me and I wont let my girl drive. I don't mind at times. I let her drive it three times since I got it in Jan. Twice more when I was too drunk to drive and thankfully she hasen't gotten hit or hit someone. I'm the type of person that if someone hit the car while she was driving i'll still be mad at her. I have this mentallity that says "If that was me driving, it wouldn't happen" even if I was on the same road.

I value my gf's life more then my car obviously, but I cherish my car like it was my 1st born.

Btw. Why would you go from a A/C to a SL 600 thats such a huge upgrade in cars. I woulda just got the SL600 or 65 instead of the Altima Coupe. Thats if I had the money
IMO, regarding luxury vehicles, the SL 600 AMG is top notch.. I've always been in love with it... I will most likely keep the A/C until I get my first appointment after I finish training... and being that my salary will increase about 6 fold over what I make right now... that's why there is that big jump... I'm all about living within my means comfortably.. right now, the A/C is perfect for me... but when I can afford to get some nicer toys, I will!

I think I'll just try top grab her on her day off, and let her drive her around in the car, and show her how I have to go over bumps, inclines, and declines... my guess is she'll see how difficult it is, and decide its too much work just to drive a car... driving a car should be a simple task... but we do so much stuff to our car that it sometimes actually takes some of the simplicity away.... I'm obviously guilty of that!

One of my local NICO members (nameless, so he doesnt have to wear the hat of shame) just got a new set of wheels... within 2 weeks of bolting them on, his immediate family members got 2 of them curb rashed...

With great mods comes great responsibility..

Man, all you guys need to choose your 'other' with more care!

My late wife drove my car at the same competitive level I did, with the exception of circuit racing... whether autoslalom, solo events, or lapping sessions at tracks like Mosport and Shannonville. She was competent. Drove my open-wheel Formula Four and also my modded 240Z.

I never had a fear that the car wouldn't come home in pristine condition. In fact, I looked forward to the 'stories'... "Some clown in a Z28 thought he was gonna beat me onto the on-ramp..." or "Some idiot in a Vette tried to get me through the esses down the road"....

I got lucky, I guess, she was one of a kind. No, I didn't lose her in a crash - just damn cancer. And no - no sympathy please - against her principles. I just mean that if a performance vehicle is part of your life style, then find a performance girl... it's a truly awesome ride through daily life.

My wife despises my A/C and wont touch it with a 10 foot pole.

You let her drive it otherwise you're in for it down the road.By telling her no...you're telling her you don't trust her. Tellingher you don't trust her tells her you love a "thing" more thanher.

My wife can drive mine anytime to matter what I do to it. We'repartners all the time...not just when it's convenient or circumstancesallow. Be a man and let her drive it.

Yes, Ferguson, you are a very lucky man to have experienced such and woman. If you don't mind I will have a toast tonight to your wife and woman like her.

I can't believe I never saw this thread!

Its like a lot of you have been saying, most girls just don't know how to drive suspension modified cars, and It can be very tricky to avoid damage around the roads.

curbsspeed bumpsdrainage dipsunevenness between bridges and tarmac

Robert will tell you, after I got the springs put on by Eibachs, he came down to test the car out. He jumped in the drivers seat, and took a speed bump a little to fast. The car cleared it just fine going over, but coming down recoiled the weight on the springs, and the car dipped down and scrapped the bottom on the frame a little bit, on the curb. Robert immediately apologized, and pondered his actions. However, it wasn't a big deal because I know Robert loves cars, and he would assimilate. Of course, he continued to drive it, and never made that mistake again. Which is something I don't think a lot of girls could do, or appreciate.

Only a handful of people have been allowed to drive my car. You have to be picky an choosy if you want it to last. Its that simple.
