i hate my friggin' car. anything that can go wrong has! all i wanted to do was put a good clutch in, but that was 5 days worth of laying under my car ago! taking it all out wasn't too bad, but nothing is going right in my attemp to put it back together.first the transmission wouldn't fit up under the firewall to slide back into place. then i had to undo the headers to allow the engine to be pushed down for the extra inch, now the header bolts don't line up with the holes and a pipe attatched to the headers that runs around the back of the engine and i believe into the throttle body area has broke right off. does anyone know what pipe this is and how critical it is to the running of the engine? also, three of the eight bolts for the headers broke off in the block. F**K MY CAR! i appologize for my b*itching, i just needed to vent. all i really meant to get at in this post was what is that pipe that i broke? i mean i will get it fixed, but can my car run with it disconnected for a little while? and also, how hard is it to get those 3 broken bolts drilled out? can just any car shop do that for me, or is that a special thing? anyways, i should get back to my POS car.... i still got some more bolts to tighten up. BTW, my cars a '90 240sx with the ka24e engine.

I beleive you are refering to the EGR tube. Your car will run but not very well(bad gas mileage). I know people have removed the system before but I am unsure of the exact process.

As for your broke bolts, any semi compitent(sp?) mechanic should be able to get those out with a drill and some e-z outs.

just crimp the ends of the tube for an easy fix. You should undo the exhaust at the cat to get the head back on, otherwise its got a lot of weight on it from the exhaust system.

i have a 95 240. i put transmission on its side and aligned the input shaft on the clutch. i pushed the transmission in almost all the way and then turned it right side up and slid it in the rest of the way.

well after much kicking and screaming, it all finally went together. i had to pry the entire engine block downwards to get the transmission in. I figured out the headers, they were just a pain in the a$$, thats all. thanx for advice andrave, however I had my cat removed and a straight 2 1/2" pipe replace it from the downpipe to muffler and it was all welded together (it wasn't untill after it was done that I realized that that is how the guy was gonna do it... basterd). as far as the egr tube being broken, justmerging, when you say it will run not very well(bad gas mileage) do you mean it will run rough and get bad mileage, or will it run fine just with bad mileage?

just crimp the tube if it broke off at the tube, and it will be fine. EGR is just for emissions. don't have smog in canada do you?
