The 90 Q45 dead on the road yesterday and towed to a friend car shop. He has been working on this car several times, rebuild the transmission etc. First, we checked the fuel pressue, and there is no pressure. Checked the sensor that is ok. We realized the pump is not running. All fuses are ok. So we replaced the fuel pump. After replacement, the pump is still not working? What is the possible reason? Is it possible the problem of fuel pump controller? How can we quickly pin point out what is the root cause of the problem?

Thanks for your help.

Gordon

You can bypass the controller and deliver 12V directly to the pump just long enough to verify the problem. Also, you could remove the controller and take it apart; there are probably visible signs of damage--burns, melted plastic, etc.

Thanks, we followed the procedure and sure it is a fuel pump controller failure.

Is there any information where I can get a used fuel pump controller?

Thanks,

Gordon

I recently purchased a used fuel pump controller for $85.00. Go to http://car-part.com/noninterchange.htm and you can find any number of salvage yards with used control units.

When you take your control unit out could you please note the possitions of the wires in the plug and let me know how they are possitioned?

Hi Gordon,

It is all of the wires in the plug I need to know the location of. I have a wiring diagram so I know the colors but I have no idea which terminals they go to. If you look at the plug from the side a t which the wires enter with the bracket facing upwards and starting from the left uper side what are the colors of the wires?

I bought a front cut to get the engine which I am fitting into a Fait 130 Coupe, so I have no guide on the wiring in the rear of the car. The fuel pump relay I can work out but the control unit is a mistery to me.

Thanks,Ashley
