I just replaced starter on my 2002 Q45. They then told me that I need to replace a motor mount and that I need to replace valve cover gaskets (that theres a small leak.)

Car currently runs very good.

It has 160, 000 miles.

Should I get the fixes done.

What's the overall maintenance condition of you Q45 like? If you're F50 is in-line for a plethora of other costly repairs it may not be worth keep considering the low value of your car. Also, did you cost out what all the needed repairs will be? Lastly, car you afford to put yourself into well maintained used car or new car?

are you the original owner or 2nd or 3rd owner. reason I ask is it is good to know what has been done in the last 9 years as it ran off the 160k. I can tell you that if you are not the original owner, fluids may not have been changes often enough, oil change internals might have been poor.

Give us that information and we can give you more guidance. FYI, what you'd replace it? This is a very nice car and perhaps 2-3k of work and she's as good as new, your good. but if they transmission is going to blow up soon (with original fluid in there), then time to sell and buy something else.

I am orginal owner

Just dropped 900 on starter

The motor mounts and valve cover gaskets are going to run me about 1600.

Orginal transmission still.

Dont want or need another car payment

Currently car is very clean and drives very good.

Should I keep and spend for repairs? Should I get the transmission looked at before I spend for the mounts and valve cover gaskets?

$900 on starter? You need to find a good, reasonably priced independant shop/technician to care for your car that will provide better service and cheaper prices than a dealer. All your issues are normal periodic wear/ replacement items on ANY car as it ages. Best thing you can do to prolong life of transmission is frequent fluid changes.

Keep the car and like he just said, find a good aftermarket mechanic that knows Nissan/Infinti. Your going to the stealership I suspect, 9 year old cars just don't belong there anymore.

I would replace the fluids on everything more now that it is a higher mileage car with the highest quality products, Mobile 1 at the least, Redline or Amsoil at best. I do mine every 2 years now, a complete flush too, not a drain and fill. Same thing with power steering, brake fluid, rear end etc. The car should run a long time, things that went out are pretty normal. I don't know where you live but if you have a tough winter, hot summer or really crappy roads (or all of those) that puts extra stress on everything.

Try CarZone Auto repair http://www.carzoneautorepair.com
They are located in Van Nuys area. I have to drive 40 miles to get my Q service over there.
Ask for William or Donald. Owners are former Infiniti master techs. I've been taking my 2Qs since I found them over two years ago. Reliable, efficient hard working guys. You won't be dissapointed.

Tell them you are referred by Percy.

Good luck.

Also if your in west LA Z Expert has done work on my cars for almost 20 years. I left LA 11 years ago and my 300ZX and Infiniti often come to LA for service. Ask for Richard, they are in Venice, CA and their number is 310-396-7200. He can do it all, I'm sure Percy's place is great too, really depends on what part of LA you live in as to what is easy to get to. I literally drive my Z down there and sometimes leave it for a couple of weeks to get everything taken care of and richard's hourly is 1/2 of the stealership.
