I'd buy some decent bootlegs if I were you, that way they're actual dvds and have decent cases.

on a sidenote, anyone seen the little micro rc cars they have?

I think they only have the 86 and the two 7's right now though

Yeah, Kazaa is definitely the way to go. I've already seen all of the episodes, and both movies. I got everything burned on CDs. Now if I could just find Wangan Midnight...

i have all the DVDs for ID in nice cases and all that when i went back to hong kong two summers ago!

it takes way too long for the US to translate and publish it here, and takes way too much money to buy them

ID like came out a LONG LONG time ago in Japan and Hong Kong, i first knew about it was 3 and a half years ago when i went to visit my parents in HK, a friend of mine let me borrow some animates, and ID was one of them, i thought it was awesome, and i knew my bf loves car and racing, so when i came back to the states, i told my bf about it, then he started to dl, but took forever.

so i bought all the DVDs, movies when i went back the year after, for very very cheap! good quality, not dubbed over, no changed names...etc!!! they were awesome!

I got initial D first stage's box dvd set. english subtitles, etc.

as far as the dvd's released recently in the states, i think they're crap. i never cared for dubbed anime as there are too many omissions and scene cuts/changes for no good reason.

i plan to get the rest of my Initial D from http://www.discountanimedvd.com

yea i just checked out that website, seems ok to me!

though for example, third stage: the movie only cost me HK$40, which is US$5 (less than that actually, and there is no tax)....not to brag, but if you have anyone who will go to Asia (Japan excluded), ask them to buy them for ya!

too bad i aint going back any time soon, coz i will buy yall DVDs, all region code, for at least half the price here! and i might even make a profit too!! :D :D :D

I have watched stages 1,2 and 3 and they are awsome. Battle stage is pretty worthless because the subtitle translations are horrible compared to the rest of the DVD's and its just a re-cap of all the car battles. I still have yet to watch the extra stage.

gah! HKC, do you know what extra stage is about?

oh, and 2nd stage dropped down to $29. not too shabby. plus do the dvd sets you speak of feature english subtitles though? they're hard to find on japanese dialogue sets...

and the movie and extra stage is only $10.99..that's not bad either i think.

Extra stage is sort of a spin-off of Initial D, and follows Mako and the other girl, who drive the blue Sileighty. I haven't watched it in a while, but it followed their love lives a little too much for me, but it's still really good, and the race scenes are good.

see? i did say i didnt mean to brag!

alright, since u ask. let's see:

1. 1st stage HK$ 100, US$152. 2nd stage HK$ 100, US$153. The movie: special box (w/ special features) HK$ 80 US$ 124. Battle Stage HK$ 40, US$55. Extra stage HK$40, US$5

and if you are wondering the subtitle and all that, they are exactly the same as others, subtitle in chinese and english, not dubbed.

no names changed, no edition! all region code.

i bought those coz my bf is american, cant read chinese or japanese, and most of the amine DVDs in Hong Kong are subtitled in both chinese and english given that HK was the British colony till 1997!

pretty much. and dont forget one more thing, there is no (absolutely) no sales tax in HK, free trade is what we have, ID first stage is US$15, and it will be just US$15 not US$16.34 ...:D

ya i guess u can tell i am totally promoting my hometown, but hey like Jackie Chan said, i love HK, i mean what;s not to love? :D
