Would it not be a good idea to limp my car to a muffler or tubing bending shop without a downpipe?

yeah i fired mine up a couple of times without a downpipe.... leaves were crowded up over the wipers and they all lit with a quickness.

I would at least get your first bend finished... have the exhaust pointing straight down and then get it on over to the muffler shop...

yea at least put a short bend on there or something otherwise your car will probably catch on fire before you get there.

If you have no welder try to take a piece of sheet metal and make a heat barrier that will somewhat aim the exhaust down and out.

But I strongly suggest you tow it.

i'll have to find a cheap tow, i can weld, but i have no welder and no tubing bender

Yeah, I'm gonna risk driving with no DP, but that's cause my turbo sits so low that I am not risking much of anything getting burned.

Can you run it without a downpipe? What does the ECU do when the O2 sensor isnt in the exhaust stream and it's running in closed loop, or does it run and just throw a code?
