k so i just bought a zenki with plans of a kouki conversion. I plan to put a lot of money into it at least 5grand which includes the kouki conversion......i only make 1 grand a month working at BMW and my quote for insurance is $56 for liability and 165 for full coverage...Im only worried about getting the car stolen, in which i put lots of time and energy as opposed to vandalized or crashed....so heres my question.... Is full coverage worth it on my zenki???In 2 years the money from full coverage would cover what i paid for the zenki-4500.......what are u guys doing?thanks

I'm guessing you mean $165 a month for full coverage? If so, then why not? My insurance is around $180 a month for liability.

$1000 a month at BMW!? wow... lol.

First of all you have to find a insurance company that covers all you after market parts. Some only cover OEM and if stolen would restore it to OEM not what you have invested. Full coverage not only means theft... it also means coverage for yourself in a collision. I was in an accident where i was injured and was compensated for my injuries and my car.. Got me a new whip w upgrades. So i think its worth it! .. Try looking around for a better quote.. I pay 110 full coverage on my Altezza.. im 23.

You need a new job....full coverage not so much.... doesnt make sense in an older car they will just give you what "the book" says its worth...if you crash it buy it back from them for cheap and buy a shell w/whatever they give you and swao everything over

i vote liability, they go by the blue book value normally.

wow your insurance seems high... mine is like 75 a month for my civic and 240 (full coverage on 240 liability on civic) I am 25 but before i bought the 240 I had a fully modded low 11 second 68 camaro. It was insured with all parts and appraisal (my insurance was around 100 for both I was 20ish. Camaro insured at $16,000. Most insurance will let you insure your car w/ all mods for not very much more. I would do liability untill you start doing any real mods to it then change it to full with all mods as "riders" on policy. I think that is the right term?

from what i know, if u were to crash ur car. even if it didnt seem too bad, if the repairs will cost more than the car, then it is considered totaled. they will pay u and take the car and like previously mentioned, u would have to buy it back. that happened to my buddies sc300. damages wasnt realy all that bad. a little frame straightening and some body work, some windows and she was good as new. but the repairs were more costly then the car itself and his insurance didnt cover aftermarket parts, not to mention the illegal 1jz he had in it. his only option was to buy it back, get it repaired and now his car has a salvaged title. but i guess if u could get someone to also insure any aftermarket work u do to it might make it worth it as long as u kept all ur reciepts.either way, it wont take much damage for them to total your car as the book value realy aint that much, im guessin around 5 grand or so.

Depends on your insurer.

Srrrr had good comments.

If you have a lot of aftermarket parts that you want to be able to insure properly, you need to go to a carrier that will insure your car for an agreed value, not on a market value basis - and make sure they are ok with aftermarket parts. A company like Haggarty will do things like this, but sometimes can be very expensive if you are doing full coverage.

Call up a local insurance agent and ask them to help you out with quoting several different insurance compaines. Each company has something a little different than the other - you need to find the one that is right for what you want.

call around to a few insurance agents. tell them your story. "i have a _______and i have about $xxxxxx into the car, How can i insure it incause of an accident/theft" Usually you have to have proof (receipt) of what is done to the car. bud odviously the more your car is insured for the more your insurance will be.

i say go for it.

jesus christ dude. that is so much. i say full. i love my car i got comprehensive full way above the minimun values expected by my state and im only paying 120 a month. I am just worried one day someone will hit and run it and without complete full overage i would be s*** out of luck.
