No need! And nitrous is not needed either. But those 560cc injectors you speak of will not cut it or I personally wouldn't be using that size injector to support the goal of 400hp or 400whp.

I've always wondered when 400hp became the magic number. 1000 makes sense, but I have heard so many people with that 400hp goal.

I always liked 500 as a nice round number goal......... 1000 makes sense with double the cyclindars.

maybe 400 is the new 350? As in a mildly agressive build?

Actually, 2009 has been the year of this new magic number. The old magic number/goal was 300hp, but that's not merely enough. Maybe I should let some of these folks test drive my 240 and see what their opinions of 300+whp at your disposal everytime you take it for a drive. Or better yet, try switching the boost controller to the next boost setting and see what 400whp feels like especially on wet streets. I say that 300hp is more than most will ever need with this engine.

400 is what my parts can take right now. so in terms of reliability i was wondering if forgins is necessary. i do not want to go back at this engine anytime soon.

As long as you have the supporting mods, the mechanicals should hold-up just fine. If you're like some that want to push their stock equipment to its limits, well prepare to open it up and replace some expensive hardware. This is my theory: in the 13 or 14 years of messing with the CA series, I've discovered that if you're not going to be requesting 500whp everytime you blip the throttle, then there's no need to be adding expensive parts to your bottom end. The head is where the attention should be focused on. A good engine management system, decent supporting mods (ie turbocharger, injectors, cams, etc), great tuning, and you should be able to achieve the needed objective/goal. And besides, people don't realize what happen to these cars when they have engines that produce 300+whp. They can truly become weapons of mass destruction if not respected.

but if you plan on bouncing the car of limiter frequently and tracking it hard and giving it hell frequently and rev limiter often and you do this type of thing often and repeatedly - and like the sound of rev limiter with 400whp, dont expect your stock cast pistion ring lands to hold your piston rings in place for to long

I've driven a 400hp car and I can say 400hp is more than twice as hard to handle than 200hp. If I turned the key on 300hp every morning, I think I would be just fine.

My 240 sits at or around 360whp @ 18psi of boost and it's ridiculous. On a wet road or highway, putting the engine under boost is near pointless, unless you want a near out of control weapon. Engine management and supporting components make this happen and not the phyisical engine entirely. It's reliable, extremely quiet and an absolute blast to drive. Those are the keys for what most are trying to accomplish. Oh yeah, it has A/C and PS as well .

I concur . I'd rather exert that extra energy in the bedroom as opposed to fighting with non power assisted set-ups as well as having sweaty balls laced with the smell of a stinky exhaust system . I like to keep the balls dry and keep the extra energy for my wind-down down time .
