i know there is a little more rim selection and some better sizes of rims but other then that i see no reason to pay anywhere from 400-1000 bucks just for an extra lug on each hub, i know you can stilll put z32 calipers on 4 lug hubs so what makes 5 lug so much better. also for the z32 calipers on 4 lug is there any rotors that you can just buy without having to get redrilled or no? thanks

yeah there are few places where they will drill it for you. PDM racing does that for 13 dollars extra.

other than the SE look and the wheel selection i can't think of anythink else, some ppl say 5 is better than 4 especially if you are putting down some major horsepower...

The butt dyno will never be able to tell the weight difference, no more so than would you insist nobody ever ride in your passenger seat as their 100-200 extra pounds would severely upset handling balance.

Keep posts reasonable pl.

I almost went 5 lug, but decided against it recently. I was having a really hard time finding good size wheels for my KA-T car (I wanted 9" in the rear and 8" up front). I realise there are some available, but the selection was really not that great. Offset selection in that small group was even worse.

What changed my mind though was that 5zigen is offering a special run of their FN01R-C wheels in 9" for the 4 lug S13, which is the wheel I wanted in the first place. (Two NICO sponsors offer them that I know of off the top of my head: 240sxmotoring.com and SPLparts.com)

My stance is that if you can find a wheel that you want in the right size for 4 lug, theres really no reason to spend the money upgrading to 5.

Something I've always thought about as well. I decided to stick with my 4 Lug and upgrade the brakes as needed. Rim selection is better, but rim selection as it stands isn't bad, it's money that could be better spent that's for sure.

the guys with 5 lug are the hardcore offset kings. they usually have wheels that nearly rub or can rub their fenders so they roll and pull. yeah their wheels are usually forged also 500+a pop with big lip. you know those crazy looking flashy wheels. work, volk, advan, ssr (ahem bomex lol), and maybe some others.

for the budget 240 guy i don't think it's necessary at all. 5lug conversion is almost like 800-1k... you can get tons of adjustable arms or a 2-way lsd for that. it's probably something you might want to do later towards the end.

you're looking at a lot of money... expensive 17" wide wheels would probably run anywhere from 1800-2500. 800-1k for 5lug, 500-800 for tires.... thats a lot for a set of wheels =/

I did 5 lug because I could. If you have to ask if its worth the money its not for you to do.

But is the cash you're gunna spend on the 5 lug swap still going to be worth it when added to the "cheap" cost of some undoubtedly crap offset, narrow rims?

The couple bucks it costs to redrill rotors makes 1000x more sense than swapping to 5 lug "cuz it looks better than 4 lug wheels." hahaha
