what gives him the right to lock a thread???i thought this forum is all about sharing infoand opinions!!what gives him the right to lock a thread about 19" rims on a 240sx just because he thinks it will make it slow and he doesntagree with it.last time i checked, my 240 put down 226 hp to the ground at 5psiand sure as hell is'nt slow!!19" wheels and all.one persons opinion, especially someone in his positionbeing a moderator should not warrant locking a threadthis damn forum is all about sharing info so people getinformed. not just stressing one persons personal opinionand making that the final say.i think as a moderator you are wrong for "putting your foot down"i didnt know that you are the "end all, be all of the 240sx society"just my opinion. you can delete this or be impartial like your supposed to be and let me post it just to let people know that one persons personal opinion does not set things in stone!!

I FEEL BETTER NOW, CARRY ON!

Hi there, please read the attention sticky, I am sorry if closing that post made you mad. That topic has been discussed before, all relevent information provided, and discussed openly. It wasnt your thread, so I dont know why you're so mad. I have many personal preference on what peole should and should not do to their cars, and consistently try and provide help for everyone, including those who want to do things I may not "approve of". ask around, you'll find I've helped more people than you've ever thought of. That topic, in particular, turned into a flame fest in 240 general about 6 months back, and was discussed here more recently. I closed it because of the lack of information provided, and obvious lack of searching the board, in addition(admitedly) to my own anti-"show car" attitude. Also, What gives me the right to close posts in the little "moderator" title, allong with hours of work creating and compiling those beautifull FAQ posts you see and use, and helping people every day with suspension and tire related questions. I only close maybe 2 posts a MONTH, much less than places like FA or zilvia, who would have just deleted that thread altogther, with no explanation. I try to be very leinient, and even answer the same questions repeatedly(sometimes 3 times a day!), without deleteing or closing threads, or being mean.

SO please, if you have such a big problem with me, let me know personally. If I recall correctly, when the origional two posts about putting large wheels got posted, I stayed neutral. If its your car, do what you want. I'll leave this up, since you seemed so offended by me locking one thread out of 100's of repeditive threads. But, hey, you're entitled to your opinion, its what free speech is about. e-mail me or reply if you want to discuss it further, but that thread is staying locked.

Let the record show I disagree with the opening of a new thread, only to dispute the closing of a previous thread.

cdigity,I don't care for the tone you use when talking about your car. If you want respect for the work you've done, you need to work on your delivery. You are/were obviously upset, but that doesn't mean you should make comments like "last time I checked, my 240 put down 226 hp to the ground at 5psi"..which, out of context seems OK, but when read along with the rest of your message, is clearly an attempt to one-up the nay-sayers.

This type of in-your-face attitude doesn't make friends...and it sure doesn't help your credibility here. Nobody will tolerate a guy shoving his stats in our face, while insisting on getting in the final word about a closed thread.

Chet, To be honest, your comments in the post this thread is referring to does not support what you are saying in this post. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that your intent was as you say, but commenting negatively about putting 19" wheels then closing the thread for what you denote as "obvious reasons" does not exactly ring as obvious in my mind. I doubt it's truly as obvious to everyone as you seem to think. Perhaps a referral to the sticky and maybe a comment about searching for the info would be more appropriate when locking that thread.

Just my 2 pennies.

No but seriously though, why in the blue hell would you put 19s on your 240? Even if your car is fast?

The only reason I can think of is to compliment the body kit you're planning on putting on your car, or to draw attention, most likely negative attention or even jest.

Anyone want my two pennies? 19=TOO BIG :)

C-kwik, I know most people may not see the "obvious" reasons, I edited my post. Thank you for giving me the benefit of the doubt. I did make engative comments, and everyone knows I dissagree with putting 18+ wheels on a 240, I admit that(see above) I just wanted to inform Cdigty that the reasons I lcoked it were not just my dislike for large wheels, nor was it a personal attack, which it seemed to be taken as.

Thanks for your input guys -chet

cdigity: I reference your own post, from 6/19/03, wherein you said:

yes, those are my show wheels. im gonna go with some 15 x 8, and 15 x 9 with khumos for auto-x and 1/4 mile

Yet above you said:

last time i checked, my 240 put down 226 hp to the ground at 5psi and sure as hell is'nt slow!! 19" wheels and all.

So you don't even run the 19's all the time, because they SLOW your car down. That was the point, yet you insisted on arguing it.

I'm hoping this is the last of it.

I've gone 2 weeks w/o using my Admin powers, and I like it that way.

Well, why the hell not? It's not your car, it's not up to you. I'm sure there are people who ask why I put a turbo on my KA. Or why I upgraded my stereo. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but who are you to judge? I certainly have run into those who think what I do to my car is wrong. But it's my choice to make. Same as anyone else. Your reasons are not someone else's. Individuality should be embraced. I'd hate to think everyon in this world were teh same. I'd be bored.

As would I, but 19 inch rims are too big, they give a crappy ride, there isn't enough tire on the rim, THEY WILL BEND. I know its not my car, on MY car there will be a nice set of 17 inch rims, and a turboed KA. But I digress... Oh did I mention the camber/rubbing problems?

If you can't take the fact that people are entitled to their opinion... and you don't like it.. don't bash it like you did with the 19's and btw they are too big...

Ok, I didn't say this guy is going to hell or that he even made the WRONG decision, all I said was that I don't understand why someone would do that.Turboing your KA = makes the car faster, duhGetting a stereo upgrade= because you don't like the way the other one sounds, like mine, stock one sounded like crap so I upgraded

If I'm entitled to my own opinion as well, then let me give it.There's a pretty thin line between individuality and bad taste. Thanks :)

Yep - We've flogged this dog enough.

We established above that the guy doesn't keep his 19's on for anything but show, so there's nothing left to say.

Don't reopen this topic. The red button is there for a reason.
