Although my 91Q (106,000 mi) runs real well as is, I am thinking of plunking down $695 for the JWT ECU upgrade that has been talked about frequently in the forums. Is the improvement in performance really worth it or just marginal? Is there a downside to this? Would you recommend an exchange or sending in the original ECU? Does anyone have one for sale? Any and all information is greatly appreciated.

i know someone with a junked up Q that happens to have a JWT ECU...if it's compatible or not..i dunno. I don't even remember the year of the Q. I'm sure he'll reply here shortly.

I thought it was worth the money. It's about the only engine mod that really works and it's easy to install. Exchange vs send your's in would depend on how long you are willing to let your car sit. Stillen has an exchange program that has a $500 core charge that is refunded when they have a chance to check out your ECU. That can take a few weeks, but was worth it to me to have the car back on the road in 10 minutes.

You really need the ECU and the TCU to get the full benefit. The ECU raises the rev limiter but the stock TCU still want to shift at 6500-7000 rpm, so you're missing out on the extra power gain the ECU provides up to appx. 7500 rpm. Also the TCU will start in 1st gear.

I would only buy them if everything else is in good shape.... chain guides, trans, clean intake and injectors, etc.

I have both JWT and ECU for sale soon and both will show up on buy/Sell/trade soon.

Both are out of a 91 but will fit 90-93 (ECU) and 90-92 (TCU.
