I have the opportunity to purchase a Clevite short block rebuild kit, which includes everything except the timing chain and oil pump, for $200, which looks to be a really good deal. I was wondering if anybody on here has heard anything about or is currently using Clevite engine parts in their rebuild. All I want is a stock rebuild, I'm not going turbo or anything with this motor.

What do you guys think?

I'm using Clevite bearings on my SR rebuild. They're good bearings if you get the trimetal t77's. If you can cough up the extra cash, send them off to get moly coated if you're looking to squeeze every last little bit of hp out of them. Remember though, if you're going moly that it expands and that you'll need more clearance for the moly. Additionally, that you'll need to spend time to warm up the motor since you'll have a loose crank and rods until they've been warmed up to tighten up around the crank sufficiently.
