I changed brake pads on rear.Feel from Brake pedal is different. It needs more pressure to be applied.

This happens after installing new brake pads in the rear. Do I have to bleed brakes?

If so, how do I do it?

It seems like you don't have to bleed your brake every time you change your brake pad. Why did this happen to me?

You don't have to, but while you're down there, might as well and get some fresh fluid in there instead of letting the moisture soaked brake fluid rust out the lines from the inside out.

If you did not introduce air into the system (loosen the bleeder bolts on the calipers at any point during the brake job or break any of the brake lines - check if there are any fluid leaks), then you should have exactly the same amount of air in the system as before the brake job.

Is it possible your new pads just aren't as strong as the old ones? Also, did you remember to sandpaper the rotors to get the old material off?

Don't forget to check if your brake master cylinder fluid is at the right level. If you didn't bleed fluid, the fluid level will rise when you compress the caliper pistons. Although this is unrelated to the problems you're experiencing, you probably don't want brake fluid all over your engine bay.

I just did my front pads...the old ones sqeeked and didn't respond to a dab of cilicone....so I just put some good ceramic pads on there and had the rotor's resurfaced. My shop did it for 24 bucks (canadian) for the 2 of them. They were slightly grooved and still well within the minimum thickness. I was also going to do the rears but just the front improved the stopping feel and time enough to make me happy
