Is AWD still worth it in the dry?

Hello Everyone, We live in Los Angeles and do 95% of our driving on dry pavement. My friend said that the Murano's AWD would assist its handling in the dry as well as the wet. The dealer told my wife today that unless we drove in the rain or snow, we would not enjoy the benefits of AWD. Does the Murano's AWD system improve its handling in the dry as well as the wet? Thanks for any feedback!

The Mo is always in AWD at launch until it hits about 18 MPH. This gives it better traction on takeoff. Worth it to me.
