all i hear is the dam woosh of the fan. Could it be broken or i dont know. but im running no cat and just a cherry bomb muffler and my fan is still louder than my exhaust. Im just curious, im not going electric because i hate the fact of flicking a switch everytime i start the car. I had electric fans on the 240 and it found it to just be a pain in the a**. oh its an 88 z24.

Yes, they are noticable. IDK if the fan clutch can lock up or not, (some older cars just ran direct drive without any "clutch"), but either way, its gonna be louder than an e-fan. IDK if a flex fan is any quieter than stock. I run an e-fan, which is a pain without a thermostatic controller, but I'm not sick of it enough to take it off, besides, the stock cooling sytem is plenty for the stock engine, so the engine driven fan is way overkill IMO.

Your clutch fan may have seized....this happened on my frontier. Sounded like I was driving a cessna. a new fan clutch may be in order.
