I find it incredibly strange that after numerous searches I've found no other complaints about the aluminium doors. Am I the only one that minds that everyone in the parking lot can hear me listening to WHAM when my volume is only at a quarter? It's seriously low enough to have a normal conversation in the car and I'm apparently putting on a Boyz II Men concert going down the road.

lol. Funny post is funny. I've never given it much thought and I listen to a WIDE variety of music, being a musician.

Lol, well the Infinitis we've owned haven't really offered the best sound attenuation, even compared to say a 2001 Lexus ES300 which is pretty entry level luxury. However, my 2005 XJ8 is almost all aluminum but once I shut the door you can't really hear what's going on in the car.

I think it's more of a padding issue, but for the times I want to bump some Celine Dion or Shania Twain in the streets, I just make sure I have my tinted windows up.

Then a lot of cars of late have aluminum doors because I hear everyone's conversation on their phone system.

I hate when everyone can hear my music, that's why I added sound barriers all around my cabin. Not soundproof, but now I can turn it up.

Hahaha. See, tinted windows would have allowed him to bump his gangsta rap uninterrupted.

I also noticed that my music or the person speaking to me on the car phone might well be happening with whole dam door open! It's not just the aluminum door, it's the half-arsed, paper-thin insulation + non acoustic glass that makes this possible. After my windows were tinted, the amount of sound escaping diminished considerably. Hopefully, this will change when they do (IF they do) the 2018 re-design of the Q70, but I doubt it.
Long as they lose the curvy side panels and keep or improve the front and rear design, I will be happy. I have read that they are meant to mimic the fast-back design of the Panamera or A7. That would go a long way to losing the pensioner-type body they currently make.
As for people outside my car hearing the music? I love my music loud and I play it proud, LOL.
