ok so one of my neighbors, who parks right next to me in our apartment parking lot, just told methat he saw two guys were parking right behind my car last night around 4:30amhe said they were writing down my license plate number, and they ran(drove) away as soon as they saw my neighbor. only reason i can think of why they were writing down my plate is maybe they are gonna steal my caror at least break in to steal my aftermarket nav system.

i don't have any kind of alarm system on my AC and i was wondering is it easy to steal a car with electronic keys.

if so, what would be the best way to prevent the car theft?(i don't have garage)

I dont think its easy to steal. the only person I've ever heard of having their altima coupe stolen was in San Diego, California and it was found in Mexico. cars can be stolen with a tow truck but to try and hot wire or something, I've never heard of it happening to an altima coupe.... breaking in and stealing your aftermarket Navigation system can be done though. It has happen to a few members already

yup, looks like they not looking to steal ur car but break in and grab ur nav system. That sucks, suggest u get an alarm system asap, sleep in ur car, or park somewhere else..

Usual method of car theft is using a dent puller to remove the key ignition then a screwdriver to start the vehicle like using a key.. The Altima is push button so this cannot be done...

I would worry about tow trucks or flatbeds...

i would never get the dealer to tint my windows unless he offered the dip method. it's much cheaper to go to an audio/tent shop

Has anyone tried those tint packages that come pre-cut to fit the vehicle?

I wouldnt use those unless you know what you're doing. I paid $116 and got my back 3 windows tinted 5% (cant tint the front ones in Cali). they did a perfect job, no bubbles in the tints or anything and I have a lifetime warranty on the labor and the tint itself.

i got 5% tints on all my windows

Just make sure you're not blasting your radio around your area. draws more attention to your car. Tint will definitely keep people from looking in and seeing what you have.

I haven't heard about any AC being stolen in San Diego, and i live in SD.

It is not easy to steal the intelligent key altimas. The car also has an anti-theft system that will engage if the car has been locked, the key is not present, and then a door is opened from the inside. Basically if the guys broke out a window, stole the stereo, and then opened the door, it would go off. Not great but better than nothing.

Maybe you should look into a Viper or similar car theft system that has glass break sensors, no idea on what one costs installed though.

from what i was told the way thieves steal cars with the smart key is they have a scanner that will pick up your key frequency when you use it and that allows them to get into the car and steal it. but for the typical thief the chances of them stealing it are low.

Yeah that is the issue with just about anything wireless. Too bad they don't have some kind of rotating key system like a garage door opener to make it somewhat more difficult to guess - or maybe they do and it's not easy to steal them that way either.

I have a 2008 altima 4 door sedan with an intelligent key...my problem is any where put the key in my home it activates the car door I didn't know until someone got in and stole items from the car then proceeded to try and steal my car but didn't get more than 50 feet, I have been reading that they actually could have driven away until they shut it off or ran out of gas but I guess they got scared and left it,is there any way to deactivate the key for periods of time? I tried taking the key away from the actual fob but it still opens and activates the car...any answers? also beware of how far you leave your keys from your car or you will be in the same situation, luckily the criminal was dumb and left his cell phone behind and was caught but now I stress that my car can be opened even if I have them the furthest I can away from my car in my home...

bs I wish....I have a townouse and both sets of keys were in our bedroom upstairs to the back its completely true it happened last week i bring my purse up to the room when i go up and the other set was in my husbands pocket in the room, woke up to our neighbors ringing our doorbell my car was in the middle of the street with the driver door open...looked around the car and realized ipod and etc were missing but didnt notice the phone until later that day, needless to say it was 2 kids one is in jail the other was a juvinile also the other one had a gun that he stole from another car when he was picked up so he has those charges...so after i read all these post i went and put the keys upstairs in our room and went to try and open the door it did open and it started...now im looking outside like a moron all the time anyways my brother in law told me to disconnect the battery every night and reconnect in the morning but damn thats gonna be a pain , may not believe it but here is 1 that was arrested [url]http://egvsys.metro-dade.com:160
he was charged with robbery for the items but not theft because he told the police the other kid was the one that moved it so the other on is charged but he is out of juvinile so no info on him online but court is n september...

just wanted to put this out so ppl dont have that :wtf2: feeling like I did
