Alright, i've been doing research on the CA and noticed that the AC will not be able to work because of the pulley or something like that. Can anyone confirm this? What will need to be done to make the AC work?

BTW: The KA24DE radiator will work with the CA18DET motor correct? with some slight modifications?

As long as you have the whole compressor and the original AC lines (or at least the fittings) then you sure can have A/C. The simplest way is to braze the CA fittings onto the KA lines. Simple A/C.

Yeah, most of the time when they harvest the motor, they just cut the lines leaving part of the line along with the fitting going into the compressor. That is all you need.

I have a 89. I never disconnected the stock compressor so it was fully charged and just hung it to the CA brackets when I dropped in the engine. All 4 bolts fit perfectly.

And yes. The radiator from the DE works perfect. I kept mine in there and didn't have to modify it or anything. All the hoses come out on the same side and plug right in with minimal cutting.

Wait. So the SOHC AC pumps from the KA24E will bolt onto the CA18DET?

yes, the compressor just bolts up, you need the CA bracket tho (it has a smaller bolt pattern than the CA one)

AFAIK, the compressor bolts up, but the pulley isn't aligned properly so people start shredding belts.

If you're intrested, I've got a converted CA18DET compressor that will drop right in if you had a SOHC KA. If you had a DOHC KA, then the fittings are wrong.

Well I've got another CA compressor and bracket that I haven't swapped pullies on yet. I could sell you the pump and bracket and then you could buy a new DOHC pump and just take it down and have the CA pully put on the DOHC pump. Viola, you've got a brand new, bolt on, A/C Pump.

All i have to do is use the CA's compressor, and the KA24DE pulley? Would this actually work and would it be worth the trouble? I live in Louisiana so high heat and humidity sucks.

And you'll have to have the CA compressor's ends brazed on the KADE lines.

hey, i live in alabama! tough it out boyyyeeeee!!! (sorry, had to. im really, really bored you guys) oh, and i swear to god they dont match up. ive seen people with AC but mine wasnt even close!

and i thought it was the KA24E radiator that was a direct fit. the DE has the inlet and outlet on the opposite sides, whereas the E has them on the same side, like the CA.

'fraid I can't answer that question for ya. But if you need anything I have a complete CA bracket/compressor/lines(chopped, but the ends are there) if you need them...
